Store Front

Married authors and photographers James and Karla Murray’s book STORE FRONT “provides an irreplaceable window to the rich cultural experience of New York City as seen through its neighborhood shops.” It’s a New York that’s quickly disappearing, and provides such an intimate look at some of the places that sustained this very busy city. f2 Images

I stumbled upon the work of f2 Images while doing my regular Etsy searches. Their imagery, available for purchase – is decidedly feminine with a touch of eery. Great for that little spot in your house that just needs SOMEthing. The image above felt like Summer.

Matt Armendariz

This isn’t normally the type of photography that we would feature, but Matt Armendariz work is like eye-candy for any foodie. I love his use of color and style.

Glass Jar Frames

Photojojo says it best: It’s so simple we can’t believe we didn’t think of it before: just slide a photo into a jar, turn it upside down and display your upcyclin’ genius for all to see. Get the full step-by-step here.

The 99% Conference

“When ideas do happen, it is not by accident. What separates creative people who make their ideas happen from the constant dreamers? Perhaps we all have an obligation to show our ideas some respect. Behance is partnering with Cool Hunting to host “99%.” A conference that focuses less on inspiration, and more on how idea generation and organization come together to make ideas happen.” Read more about the scheduled speakers.

The Impossible Project

A state of collective mourning began when Poloroid announced they would cease to produce the beloved medium. The Impossible Project has reclaimed Poloroid Film, and vows make it a viable, living medium once more. In their words: “Impossible b.v. has been founded with the concrete aim to re-invent and re-start production of analog INTEGRAL FILM for vintage Polaroid cameras. Therefore Impossible b.v. has acquired the complete film production equipment in Enschede (NL) from Polaroid, has signed a 10-year lease agreement on the factory building; and has engaged the most experienced team of Integral Film experts worldwide.” Photos via Polanoid.

Bullbone Vintage Photos

Scouring Etsy has become a hobby. Amidst the jewlery and funky stuffies, Bullbone has cherry picked the best vintage photos and will snail mail them to you for only $5. I still like combing through the piles of pics at the flea market, but Bullbone helps get that fix when you can’t get to the flea.

Riitta Ikonen

The work if Riitta Ikonen is both surreal and hilarious. Her own words describe it best: “My work is concerned with the performance of images, through photography and costume design. Certain items, usually small and insignificant, excite me to the point where I have to wear them and then document that process. The super- garments I make open up new experiences. In my costumes tremendous things happen – to me and to the people I work with. Today I exploded an egg in the microwave. Next, I want to make an egg costume.” Read the full interview, and check out her stuff. Via Cool Hunting.
