f2 Images

I stumbled upon the work of f2 Images while doing my regular Etsy searches. Their imagery, available for purchase – is decidedly feminine with a touch of eery. Great for that little spot in your house that just needs SOMEthing. The image above felt like Summer.

Interview: Vanessa Bertozzi

I’m very excited to publish our first Melon Made Interview with a dear friend and inspiring creative force, Vanessa Bertozzi. Editor of the Etsy.com blog, filmmaker and world traveler, she gives us a little peak into the world that is Etsy and what it means to live handmade.
Tell us a little about yourself, and what you do.
Hi there! I’m Vanessa Bertozzi. I grew up in the countryside outside of Providence, RI, and when I was little I not only loved horses, I wanted to BE a horse. Now that I’m in Brooklyn, I miss the green but I don’t know miss having to drive a car around. I walk to work and that has become an essential part of my daily routine. I have the hugest, warmest 12 lb coat meant for the arctic and that has become an essential part of my winter work walk.
I’ve been working for Etsy.com for almost 2 and a half years and I love it very much. Etsy is an online marketplace where you can buy handmade items from the people who make them and vintage items from indie purveyors. It’s also a community of creative people who help each other out, have interesting discussions, and who are ‘livin la vida etsy.’ I run the Etsy blog (http://blog.etsy.com) with a fantastically talented group of people… Read more…

Pearson Maron

Pearson Maron’s creations are made by a married couple in SoCal. Their whimsical sculptures and pins bring a little bit of the unexplained to your life. I have a few favorite creations.

Greenware Design

Bring a little spring indoors. “Greenware Design is a two woman team that combines the talents of two longtime friends, Irene McCollam and Leslie Geer. Irene, the potter, creates original ceramics on her pottery wheel. Leslie, the planter, fills them up with unique succulent plantings.” Kudos to Etsy for featuring them.

Gnome Homes

Whilst trying to expand my plant collection, I stumbled across the Gnome Home etsy store, and had to share. Everyone needs a little elf and fairy in their lives, and these are so clever.

Angela Knipe Brooches

A brooch isn’t something gals these days typically look for to complete the perfect outfit, but Angela Knipe’s etsy store might have them thinking twice.

Bullbone Vintage Photos

Scouring Etsy has become a hobby. Amidst the jewlery and funky stuffies, Bullbone has cherry picked the best vintage photos and will snail mail them to you for only $5. I still like combing through the piles of pics at the flea market, but Bullbone helps get that fix when you can’t get to the flea.

Sunyno Beads

Going bead shopping is like going into a candy store – I want one of everything! Possibilities are endless, and it’s so gratifying to hear the ol’ “where’d you get that necklace?” Oh, this old thing? I MADE it.
I find a new Etsy lust probably every day, and this is no exception. Peruse Sunyno’s bead collection, or if you’d rather, peep her ready-made wares. I want one of everything.

Lizette Greco

I’ve dabbled in stuffed-animal-making, and it’s usually one of those things that you get into for a couple of months, and end up with a headless multi-colored snuggle buddy in your closet, waiting for his dome piece to be pieced together and sewn on…but I digress.
Some people making amazing stuffed-things, and upon my weekly mining of etsy, ran across the fine works of Lizette Greco. According to them, their works are “the product of a full family collaboration, a couple creating with their young daughter and son. Our plush art is based on the children’s drawings and are made using only thrifted and recycled materials. Our aim is to create artwork that celebrates a child’s perspective of the world and will hopefully be passed from generation to generation.” Kudos to them.
Plus, I’m partial to whales. My grandpa loved them.
